2nd Annual Sisterhood retreat: July 15th - 17th weekend 2005
Coordinator: Audrey Sindac & Cecille Joyce Gonzales
The Kappa Phi Lambda 2nd Annual Sisterhood retreat held at Poconos, Pennsylvania was a blast. The goal of the retreat was to strengthen the sisterhood, introduce our newly inducted members to the sorority, and to just relax, de-stress, and have fun.
A total of 18 sisters squeezed into a beautiful, rented Poconos home during the weekend of July 15-17th. The sisters drove up to the Poconos on a hot and humid weekend to a rented house that had no AC. Despite the heat, they made use of the fans...and the jacuzzi and still managed to have an awesome time!! Sister Sophia Yang commented,"It was fun trying to cram 10 hot girls into a hot tub."
On Friday, the sisters that arrived early settled in, explored the beautiful area, and hit the jacuzzi. Later that night, they played had good old fashion fun playing a few bonding games, tease each other, and watched movies. Thee talented sisters woke up early the next morning to make breakfast for the rest of the chapter.
They slaved for two hours until the rest of the chapter woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs. The first half of the official chapter meeting was held over breakfast that morning and after a short clean up break, the last part of the meeting was held in the jacuzzi =). Kappa luv <3
That afternoon, the Kappa sisters drove to a rollerskating rink and actually rollerSKATED -- not on inline skates!! They all took a trip down memory lane and brought back the 80's -- rollerskates and sideways ponytails!! It was a great time for everyone. After the drive back to the house in the rain, which ruined plans for
an outdoor barbeque, the sisters instead cooked hotdogs, hamburgers, and sausages in pans, while ribs baked in the oven. Despite the rain, the food was good enough to keep everyone happy. A few more bonding activities took place and afterwards, some sisters went back into the jacuzzi to relax.
The Kappa prank of the century was played to scare the sisters in the jacuzzi, a little joke, all in good fun though!! By the end of the night, everyone was exhausted.
On Sunday, everyone woke up early to help clean and move out. Overall, the retreat weekend was lots of fun and a great success! Each sister that attended wanted to stay longer and each sister that couldn't make it wished they'd came. Coordinator Audrey Sindac concluded, "Growing up it was always difficult for me to feel close to people, but becoming a part of Kappa Phi Lambda changed that. As cheesy as this sounds, thanks to the retreat I feel even closer to my sisters now than I have before. Planning and executing the retreat took a great deal of effort, so thanks again to all the sisters who came out and supported it!"
